The E Week with the theme “Go Green! The World is our Business” initiated by the non-profit National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) of the Wadhwani Foundation is expected to have a participation from over 400 institutes and 500,000 students across 30 cities during February 7-14 2009.
NEN was co-founded by five premier academic institutions of India today namely BITS Pilani, IIT Bombay, IIM Ahmedabad, SP Jain Institute, Bombay and IBAB, Bangalore.
The Birla Institute of Technology and Science – BITS Pilani which has the reputation of pioneering the online examinations for admissions through the path breaking BITSAT and setting a bench mark in industry university collaborations is one among the top ranking universities towering above the rest in various best college surveys in India today. Stating that when the going gets tough, entrepreneurs get going, the Dean Work Integrated Learning Programmes at BITS inaugurated the E week 2009 on Saturday 07 Feb 2009 in the Lecture Theatre Complex of the Institute at Pilani.
Highlighting the opportunity evaluation aspects in entrepreneurship, the Dean in his inaugural speech emphasized the fact that a successful entrepreneur needs to acquire Information Skills, Problem Solving Skills, Decision Making Skills, Communication Skills apart from Ability for Time, Stress as well as Project Management and that the BITS System of education gave ample avenues for acquiring the same.
Proud to be BITSian Sunil Handa Chairman, Board of Governors Eklavya Education Foundation, Ahmedabad, Shri VK Desai from Tinytechindia Rajkot and yet another proud to be BITSian Kavikrut who had pioneered Mobilemedics were also present for the inauguration and to mentor the budding entrepreneurs from BITS Pilani.
Dr Arya Kumar Professor Incharge of Centre for Entrepreneurial Leadership (CEL) and Dr NVM Rao Dean of Students from BITS Pilani addressed the participating students and urged them to think big, to think different, to break new frontiers and emerge as champions of the E week 2009. Rachit Chandra CEL President administered the pledge to support and build an entrepreneurial India.
The week will host a variety of events, including a marathon run on Sunday 08 Feb 2009 across the Vidya Vihar campus at Pilani to show commitment for a cleaner and greener environment. Other events include online lecture sessions, movie screenings, debates, blogging, mobile video shootings, T shirt designing competition, etc.
The final round of the intra-BITS idea competition ‘Epsilon’, also organized by CEL, has been scheduled to take place on the final day of the week. The coming week indeed promises to be an enriching experience for both the students and the faculty at BITS Pilani.
