Suresh Sharma who is presently President and CEO of Innovolt Inc Atlanta USA and Managing Partner of Real India Enterprises Fund LLC chose 04 February 2009 from his hectic schedule to visit his alma mater BITS Pilani Rajasthan where he was a student during 1970 -1975 and obtained his B.E. (Hons) Mechanical Engineering degree.
The Birla Institute of Technology and Science – BITS Pilani which has the reputation of pioneering the online examinations for admissions through the path breaking BITSAT and setting a bench mark in industry university collaborations is one among the top ranking universities towering above the rest in various best college surveys in India today. A former GE executive, Suresh is an internationally acknowledged business leader known for his thought-leadership, pragmatic vision, operational excellence and entrepreneurial successes. Co-author of the best-selling book “Global Outsourcing: Executing an Onshore, Nearshore and Offshore Strategy”, Suresh, over past 25 years, has played leading roles in setting up and running major facilities in manufacturing, R&D, Engineering Services, IT, Retail, BPO (Business Process), and Healthcare in U.S.A., India, Mexico, China, Canada, EU, Eastern Europe, and Rest of Asia.
Suresh Sharma has been a leading advisor to several corporations in Global Sourcing Solutions, and is a sought-after speaker at numerous international conferences. One of Suresh’s well-known expert areas has been his outstanding hands-on experience of doing Business Integration of many Cross-border Mergers and Acquisitions - globally - thus translating inorganic growth into organic business growth.
A holder of U.S. patent in e-Business, author of numerous journal publications, his past industry experience includes working with British Aerospace plc and Rolls-Royce in England, MATRA in France, and NASA at Hampton VA.
Going around the Institute, Suresh was impressed by the new Library building, Lecture Theatre Complex, the new laboratories, Students Activity Centre etc and gave a presentation on BITS -75 Charitable Trust Steering & Executive Team (TSET) roadmap for the proposed Centre for Emerging Technologies (CET) at BITS Pilani.
He gave a lecture on New World of Global Innovation – 24/7 Knowledge Factory. He minced no words in stating that he drew his inspiration from Dr CR Mitra former Director of BITS Pilani quote ‘Life is the final arbiter”. He also emphasized the fact that the BITS educational system with broad based integrated and interdisciplinary approach provides ample opportunities from admissions to graduations for acquiring Information Skills, Problem Solving Skills, Decision Making Skills and Communication Skills apart from Ability for Time, Stress and Project Management which is so vital for facing the new world of global innovation.
