Lanner Electronics, a leading designer and manufacturer of embedded computing platforms, today announced the launch of a new 36mm height fanless embedded system for industrial monitoring and control applications. The Lanner LEC-2204 provides four COM ports for industrial control along with two USB 2.0 ports, VGA out, audio, CompactFlash socket and Gigabit LAN for network connectivity. The system is built on a 1.0GHz Intel Celeron M CPU and Intel 910GMLE chipset with 512MB DDR2 memory onboard.
“Our customers were looking for a low cost, small form factor, fanless system with sufficient serial ports for industrial applications,” said Eric Chiu, Lanner Applied Communications Product Planner. “So we designed the LEC-2204 specifically to meet that market demand. Its small size and fanless design make it perfect for situations where space is critical, and its wide temperature range allows for deployment in harsh environments – from -20 to 50 degrees – with industrial grade components,” he said.
The LEC-2204 supports Windows XP Embedded, Windows CE Embedded, Windows XP and Linux operating systems. It includes optional wall mount and desktop mount accessories, and measures 140(W) x 190(L) x 36(H) mm, making it suitable for installation in a wide variety of industrial applications. Two front-facing COM ports support RS232/422/485 communication standards, while two rear-facing COM ports support RS232 only. Additionally, the LEC-2204 system has undergone rigorous vibration testing to ensure stability in high vibration environments, and its fully cable-free, fanless design provides enhanced reliability with no moving parts. Like all Lanner embedded systems for industrial control applications, the LEC-2204’s advanced thermal design and solid network connectivity enable the development of energy-efficient, long life-cycle solutions for industrial markets.
