Today marks the launch of a newsletter providing North Carolinians with timely, comprehensive and reliable reporting on health care policy and the future of health care in North Carolina direct from the legislative committee rooms at the State Capitol. North Carolina Legislative HealthWatch will be the go-to source for legislative health news.
The online newsletter, available to subscribers, will be published by The Insider North Carolina State Government News Service, which is owned by The News & Observer Publishing Co., and edited by Harrison J. Kaplan, Attorney at Law, and head of McGuireWoods Consulting LLC's Raleigh office.
Kaplan, who created North Carolina Legislative HealthWatch prior to joining McGuireWoods Consulting, is eager to resuscitate the newsletter because of the critical importance of legislative issues surrounding health care in the state. “The newly launched North Carolina Legislative HealthWatch is complete with summaries of key bills and committee testimony, meeting updates and targeted legislative tracking. No publication will report faster or more fully on health insurance, managed care, medical malpractice and pharmaceutical issues,” Kaplan said.
Subscribers will receive the North Carolina Legislative HealthWatch (nchealthwatch.com) by email throughout the year as actions occur, during sessions of the N.C. General Assembly and in the interim as study committees do their work. Whenever a bill is introduced, taken up in committee or debated by legislators, subscribers will know. Access to a web-based, searchable database of past reports and complete archive of all editions is also included with the subscription.
