Gaiaoo the Global Warming Initiative that delivers Internet technology to help reduce energy miles, challenges Bush to support Blair in his statement that: “time is running out for the planet”. Blair went on to say that the world had just one year to avert irreversible damage to the environment. The U.S. produces 25 per cent of emissions compared to the UK’s 2 per cent so it is important that Bush responds.

The media is just waking up the enormity of what respected scientists have been stating recently and much of the public seems to be blissfully unaware.

Secretary-General Michel Jarraud a United Nations Agency said last week that: "Global observations coordinated by WMO show that levels of carbon dioxide, the most abundant greenhouse gas in the atmosphere, continue to increase steadily and show no signs of levelling off".

James Lovelock, Atmosphere Scientist, says in his book “Revenge of Gaia” published this year: “To recover, even to lessen the consequences of our past errors, will take an extra-ordinary degree of international effort and a carefully planned sequence for replacing fossil carbon with safer energy sources.”

Sir David King, Mr Blair’s influential Chief Scientific Adviser, has argued that the world should seek to stabilise atmospheric carbon dioxide at 550 parts per million (ppm) by 2050, which he says is an achievable target that would limit the worst impacts of global warming. This goal, however, has been criticised as insufficient by green groups, who point to research suggesting that a maximum level of 400-450 ppm would be needed to confine climate change to 2C (3.6F) of warming.

The Gaiaoo initiative’s objective is to reduce the amount of distance people, food and goods need to travel as way of reducing Global Warming. It is a free internet resource which enables members of the public to publish information and news relating to their town and the local area in which they live. Such information as car sharing, locally sourced food from farmers, second hand goods available locally and recycling.

Paul Watkinson of Gaiaoo believes that "this is a Global problem that requires a Global solution," he goes onto say "Gaiaoo has a Global Warming bulletin board for all 40,000 towns and cities in the world, please sign up on your town bulletin board on Gaiaoo.com for free to express your support for this initiative and create the largest petition the world has ever seen."
