Army National Guard 1st Sgt. Marc Maynard ran an operation to get school supplies for the more than 300 boys and girls at the orphanage, as well as to oversee repairs of the orphanage building. He contacted his mother, Ulla Maynard, a longtime associate of Clark Moving & Storage, for assistance.
“The children are very courteous; they smile quite a lot,” said Sgt. Maynard, a father of four himself. “They are usually excited about seeing American soldier. Some speak a few words of English and are eager to practice on you.”
Ulla Maynard responded to her son’s request for help in a big way. She put up posters around the agency and contacted different departments for their assistance, and Clark Moving & Storage rose to the challenge, supplying hundreds of items for the children.
She also contacted Mayflower’s Headquarters, which sent Clark Moving & Storage several boxes of Mayflower pencils, erasers, paint sets, pencil cases and sharpeners from the Marketing department.
“Clark Moving & Storage is proud of 1st Sgt. Marc Maynard and all of his efforts and hard work to help orphans in Afghanistan,” said Michael DeGoey, sales manager at Clark. “We wish him well and a safe return home.”
