Bariatric Advantage®, a Division of Catalina Lifesciences, Inc., headquartered in Irvine, California, has entered into an agreement with the Weight Loss Surgery Channel securing the right to be the exclusive nutriceutical replacement sponsor of WLS News for the first half of 2009.
WLS News is a weekly online newscast covering stories from the world of weight loss surgery, including new research findings, human interest stories, and special events targeted to bariatric surgeons and members of the weight loss surgery community. The program’s viewership represents the ideal target market for Bariatric Advantage nutritional supplements, which are specifically formulated to meet the unique dietary needs of pre-operative bariatric surgical candidates and post-operative bariatric surgical patients.

Thompson, who had gastric bypass surgery in 1997, founded the Weight Loss Surgery Channel in fall 2008 to provide pre- and post-operative weight loss surgery patients and those close to them with information, guidance and support via online video to improve the chances for patients’ long-term well-being. When Thompson had his surgery, only about 10,000 bariatric procedures were performed annually in the United States, and follow-up support for patients was virtually non-existent.
