On December 9, the Ventura County Contractors Association (VCCA) presented a total of $10,000 to eight local charitable organizations, including the Camarillo Health Care District, FOOD Share, Habitat for Humanity Ventura County, Livingston Memorial, Meals on Wheels, Ventura County Rescue Mission, Ventura County Special Olympics, and Teen Challenge.
“Our contractors raise the bar when it comes to providing funds for our food, clothing, shelter and health charitable programs and we are excited to donate $10,000 to support these fine charities that do so much for Ventura County,” said Tommy Tatangelo, VCCA president. “We understand many charities are facing new challenges during the current economy and we want to help them meet those challenges.”
Donation recipients were selected by the VCCA’s Community Contributions Committee, headed this year by VCCA director Fred Penney. The committee receives input from the association’s board of directors, selecting groups that would benefit the most based on funds available. Funds were raised through the association's annual golf tournament that took place in July at Spanish Hills Country Club in Camarillo.
“We greatly appreciate the support and donation from the Ventura County Contractors Association,” said Bonnie Weigel, CEO of FOOD Share. “With their generous donation we will be able to buy much needed food for the hungry in Ventura County.”
