NewswireToday - /newswire/ - Leeds, W Yorks, United Kingdom, 12/01/2008 - The annual search for the UK's best online bingo sites is underway after WhichBingo.co.uk launched the 'Online Bingo awards today.

The search for the UK’s Online Bingo Site of the Year is underway after WhichBingo.co.uk launched the annual ‘Online Bingo Oscars’ awards today.
UK Online Bingo is on a huge growth curve and these awards are the annual recognition of excellence in this expanding market within the online entertainment sector.

Up for grabs is the title of ‘UK Online Bingo Site of the Year’ as well as the ‘New UK Online Bingo Site of the Year’ award.

The prestigious Which Bingo awards were launched in 2003 to celebrate and reward excellence in online bingo, by allowing players to vote for their favourite sites. The awards are designed to reflect the quality, excitement and entertainment value of online bingo sites.

The ’UK Online Bingo Site of the Year’ award is open to EVERY SINGLE one of the 250+ ‘pay-to-play’ online bingo sites in the UK, regardless of software provider. The ‘UK New Site of the Year’ award is open to the many UK online bingo sites that launched during 2008.

The polls are open until December 31st 2008 and the sites with the most votes in each category at the end of the month will be awarded the respective titles.
Mecca Bingo claimed the top honour in 2006, before 2007 saw Think Bingo take the title. Gone Bingo UK was named the 2007 New Site of the Year. Bingo sites all over the UK have already begun campaigning to their players for votes in this year’s awards.

After claiming last year’s award, a spokesperson at Think Bingo said: “We are delighted to receive this prestigious award on behalf of our Think Bingo members and chat moderators. It is them that set Think Bingo apart and demonstrate that you don’t have to be the biggest to be the best.”

Phil Fraser, owner of WhichBingo and widely recognised as the sector’s leading expert, said: “We want to praise and celebrate those sites that consistently deliver enjoyment and satisfaction to their players.

“There are some really great bingo sites out there doing a fantastic job. Once a year, bingo players have a forum to register their appreciation of the fun and enjoyment these sites supply. We are very excited about these awards. Having been running these awards since 2003, we are constantly amazed by the way the market improves year on year with innovation and development.”

The announcement of the 2008 award winning sites will be made in January 2009.
