SequelMed® users will now be able to electronically and securely exchange new prescriptions and prescription information with pharmacies and PBMs in communities throughout all 50 states and Washington, DC.
The connection to SureScripts-RxHub allows physicians who e-prescribe using SequelMed® to access valuable real-time pharmacy and payer information before prescriptions are written, thereby reducing errors and increasing physician effectiveness. Before a physician or provider prepares an e-prescription, eligibility and formulary information will be provided through the SequelMed® application. With patient consent, medication history can also be provided. The connection to SureScripts-RxHub also allows prescribers to send new prescriptions electronically, directly to pharmacy computers – before a patient leaves their physician’s office.
The Institute of Medicine (IOM) reported that more than 1.5 million Americans are injured every year by medication errors. In the same report, the IOM recommended that all prescriptions be written and received electronically by the year 2010.
