Throughout history artists have been striving for unity of house and garden, the Integrated Spaces: Outdoor Rooms - Indoor Gardens seminar will educate you on how to create effective and affective spaces. We will fling the doors open to invite the garden indoors and extend the functions, lines and décor of the house outdoors. This seminar begins with an introduction to outdoor living trends. We will discover what physical and sensory experiences heal our bodies and spirits be it indoors or out. We will discuss the organization of outdoor elements to support and encourage outdoor living.
Health safety and welfare issues will be discussed in relation to the nurturing effects of plants in our lives, reviewing many studies that have demonstrated how they help reduce stress, enhance and uplift attitudes, increase productivity, and improve indoor air quality. Discover which plants effectively remove toxins from the air. A minimum of one hour is dedicated to promoting and designing healthy environments with barrier free access meeting ADA requirements.
We will discuss sensitive design approaches that respect energy efficiency, economics, sustainable and nonpolluting materials. We will particularly look at “green architecture” and explore how we may introduce plants into our building material palette to improve indoor air quality and aesthetics. A minimum of one hour is dedicated to the concept of sustainable design practices for site selection and water efficiency as they relate to integrated spaces. Working in professional partnership, this comprehensive seminar will approach design in collaboration to reach beyond our professional specialty to define effective “garden” solutions uniting functions and forms.
The course creator and presenter Joy Dorst commented, “We are happy to offer Florida Contractors, Architects, Landscape Architects, Interior Designers and other professionals a comfortable, educational, and stimulating course as part of our learning opportunities that not only allow continuing education credit but also provide an environmentally friendly way to learn and grow our businesses.” The 8 CE seminar is $222 and includes continental breakfast, afternoon tea and coffee, and parking.
