Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) today announced that they have deployed more than 100 Camera Distributed Video Recording (DVR) Systems for their ATMs all over the UAE. Emirates Computers, the leading technology integrator in the UAE, installed Verint’s Lanex microDVRs for over 100 ATMs on behalf of ADCB in less than 30 days.
Statistics reveal that banks have been successful in preventing fraud. However, advances in technology are equipping criminals with clever ways to outwit the system. Criminals are relying on gadgets such as micro cameras and palm pilots to capture data. These threats have forced UAE Banks to install ATM monitoring cameras and recorders on all their ATM machines. After a thorough study and investigation, ADCB decided to install the distributed Lanex microDVRs from Verint which are ideally suited for ATMs and smaller branch applications.
“ADCB ATMs are distributed all over the Emirates from Sila to Fujairah. Our implementation teams from Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Northern Emirates put over 100 cameras into recording mode in less than 30 days at all ADCB ATM locations. The mixture of IP and non IP communication made each ATM site unique and the installation needed proper coordination between the Bank ATM team and Emirates Computers’ project management,” says Mr. Rami Al-Naghi, Emirates Computers’ Project Manager.
Verint’s microDVR captures data from tellers and ATMs, even if the bank’s system interfaces are serial today and IP tomorrow as it was in the case of ADCB. With up to 15 FPS and 500 GB of storage per camera, microDVR offers robust functionality in a compact unit. Capturing critical images and relating them back to specific transactional data, the microDVR delivers actionable intelligence for pointing out fraud, managing and regulating e-disputes and reducing loss.
