About The Book: How do we inspire and encourage a new generation of young people across the world to pick up a book again? Scottish author, JoJo Gould, appears to have found the solution through his uplifting moral tale The Bear in a Safari Hat. The story, originally released on 4th July 2008 (U.S Independence Day) contains a series of codes predicting the rise of U.S politician, Barack Obama. Amazon reviewers in the UK have already picked out more than a dozen of these allegorical references.
In order to appeal to younger readers, the novel is based around bears and outlines the rise of a Jakarta educated bear who travels to the West with a message of hope. The protagonist, Brosnan, eventually becomes president of the honey supply. It is the author's intention that younger readers will be encouraged to seek greater meaning through fiction.
Following Barack Obama's election victory, the novel has been selling out at major stores in the author's hometown of Glasgow, Scotland, and has been picked up by other book retailers across the United Kingdom.
The Bear in a Safari Hat is also now available worldwide and has global distribution through online retailers such as Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

JoJo Gould is a Lecturer in Creative Writing and was Contributing Editor to the Musicians' and Songwriters' Yearbook 2008 (an A&C Black of London publication). He also co-edited online industry magazine Music Business Journal for 4 years.
