The Irish students were competing against the other 164,646 students worldwide who sat the ACCA exams.
At a ceremony at the Westbury Hotel, Dublin Business School (DBS) announced 43 Student Prizewinners in their highly acclaimed Professional School bringing the total so far in 2008 to 85 Prizewinners. In addition to the high ranking worldwide placings, 6 students achieved first in Ireland, and 7 students were placed in the top ten in the World.
“Currently there is a shortage of qualified accountants in Ireland and if anything, in a downturn the need increases. If a person is considering upskilling they should consider accountancy first as it offers flexible entry and study options, varied employment or self-employment options and a fairly recession-proof career” said Brendan Foster, President of ACCA Ireland.
DBS have an enviable reputation for the quality of their professional programmes. Since it’s inception in 1975, DBS has educated over 650 prize-winning students at national and international level. DBS was the first College in Ireland to be awarded Premier Plus Status from ACCA - an award which provides independent assurance that DBS meets the standards set down by ACCA.
