The Barista Delegation represented the West, East and Middle States of the USA visiting coffee farms in Peru’s Chacamaya growing region and teaching barista courses at Le Cordon Bleu in Lima, South America’s only location of the respected learning institution.
Sherri Johns, President, WholeCup Coffee Consulting and Barista Delegation Coordinator states,” this was a first time for some barista delegation members to meet coffee farmers and visit origin, a trip of a lifetime.”
Delegation members and Professional Baristi included Mr. Pele Aveau, Ritual Coffee Roasters, San Francisco, Ms Alicia Kelligrew, Coffee Labs Roasters in Tarrytown, New York and Mr. Ryan Dennhardt, Baristas Daily Grind and USA Ultimate Barista, Kearney, Nebraska.
Ryan Dennhardt, Barista Delegate states, “It was fantastic to be in Peru and see the coffee harvest. I have a responsibility to make every cup count knowing my hands are the last set to touch coffee before a customer enjoys a delicious drink.” “Teaching at Le Cordon Bleu was an incredible experience and an honor. WholeCup Coffee Consulting collaborated with the American Chamber of Commerce in Peru, the US Embassy, The Coffee Association of Peru and Cafetal, a Peru roaster retailer, to create the delegation program. The mission was to exchange information, build relationships and provide ideas to access the market between Peru and the United States. “Coffee transcends boundaries. I wanted to prepare a program to inspire and build relationships with mutual admiration across the miles”, states, Johns.
