To celebrate its anniversary, the developers are offering a limited special offer to hoteliers who will sign before January 31st , 2009.
But what is a booking engine? EHBox is an online reservations system. There are multiple target markets, including end-user guests, travel agents, corporate clients and hoteliers. EHBox is essentially a central reservations system, with the travel agents section adding a hint of global distribution system. The existing system was created using PHP and other similar languages.
Currently, there are four main areas of EHBox: the back office (hoteliers.ehbox), the booking engine (bookings.ehbox), the travel agent login (agents.ehbox) and the customer login (customers.ehbox).
The hoteliers back office was created to be easy to use, comprehensive in terms of data stored and made available. Hoteliers are able to have more than one login per hotel and are able to load as much information about their hotel as they desire. Because of how the back office is set up, hotels can create promotions and packages customized to their needs, with as many extras as they choose. In addition, they can specify if rates are for all customers or travel agents.
The booking page is fully customizable and white labeled to look like the hotel’s website. Any booking engine on a hotel website will not have the EHBox logo on it. The URL will almost always be bookings.ehbox.com. One of the key benefits of the booking page is the ability to book multiple rooms at one time.
“The travel agents section was created to ensure that we had a direct portal to the travel agent market,” says Francesca Suereth, the mastermind of EHBox. “Travel agents log in using their IATA or other number and then are able to book any hotel within the EHBox system. Agents are able to book multiple rooms at multiple rates on each reservation they make, which is a step up from the standard booking page,” adds Suereth. In addition, the travel agent will have access to a database of clients where they can add notes about the guest, and which is searchable by several factors including hotel. They will also be able to pull commissions reports out of the system.
The customer database allows end-user guests to login and keep track of their reservations and favorite hotels. Through the customer login, the guest can also cancel reservations, print out their reservation details and find hotel information.
EHBox does not require special software on the part of the hotel, the travel agent or the guest. All they need is access to the Web and a browser. The system works best on Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 2 and up, and Safari 2 and up. “We are very happy that our system is proving to be a breakthrough in the hotel industry, and we wish EHBox many happy returns,” concludes Suereth.
