Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Canada, 10/27/2008 - How does a Newfoundland company play a role in Alberta hockey? It's simple, by offering a website combining news and online discussions that is based solely on the game that many Albertans are passionate about.

Designed and promoted as a site where "The Fans Come to Play", Alberta Hockey Talk (albertahockeytalk.ca) is designed as an informative site that will provide fans, teams, leagues and governing bodies in Alberta an opportunity to promote the Alberta sytle of hockey.
The website is a sister site of a successful website - Newfoundland Hockey Talk (nlhockeytalk.ca) - which offers a similar product centred around the great game of hockey in Newfoundland and Labrador. Site designer and co-owner of BEK Computer Services Inc says "Alberta Hockey Talk is an obvious evolution of our product offering. Seeing the success that our local site has here, and watching the passion and support that the fans in Alberta throw behind their teams regardless of their level of play, this is an opportunity to give something back to the game."
Wheeler contributes the idea to expand into the Alberta hockey scene largely to a chance encounter with another Alberta based company - Spirit of Hockey (spiritofhockey.ca). "While researching some content for our local Newfoundland Hockey Talk I noticed an advertisement from Spirit of Hockey, an Alberta based company that offers fundraising calendars to minor hockey organizations. I fired off an email, asking if they wanted to advertise on our site, and ended up having one of the most enjoyable phone conversations with Elizabeth Urlacher from Spirit of Hockey. This year, she contacted me looking to advertise with our site again."
Recalling her passion for the game, and thinking that there may be a need to offer a product to the Alberta market, Alberta Hockey Talk was born. BEK Computer Services Inc spent the next several weeks developing the layout, and making the necessary adjustments to its already successful site in Newfoundland to ensure that Alberta Hockey Talk had an Alberta flavour.
"Alberta Hockey Talk is 100% free for any fan, team, league or organization that is involved with Alberta hockey to use to get information out about what is taking place with respect to hockey in their area. We charge nothing to use the site, nothing to have items posted and encourage everyone who has an interest in Alberta hockey to come and read the articles and participate in the online discussion forum." says Wheeler.
During the next several weeks, Alberta Hockey Talk (AlbertaHockeyTalk.ca) will continue to grow and develop into an authority site dedicated to Alberta Hockey Talk as people provide feedback as to the features they would like to see on the site. Right now, it's an Alberta-Newfoundland connection that is a match made in hockey heaven.
