Tendering for Contracts Training of Cranleigh, Surrey, has taken another step forward in its efforts to provide small to medium enterprises with the training that they need to be able to win 2012 contracts.

The online e-learning programme has been successfully transferred to their in-house facility, enabling a restructuring of the signup fees, this means significant savings to firms who sign up for the course.

The main objectives of the ‘Tendering for Contracts Training’ programme are to overcome the perennial ‘chicken and egg’ problem that exists in this area of SME and procurement.

The programme effectively prepares the small to medium enterprise (SME) to be successful when tendering for public sector or 2012 contracts.

The programme includes (6) online modules and a hardcopy workbook, an introduction and overview, researching, preparing, structuring and presenting contract documents, how to implement quality management systems, marketing products and services to the public sector, management of small projects and a self-assessment module, more than 45 hours online learning plus over 130 pages of additional support materials, in addition all learners get free support during and after their training.

In-House Implementation
The in-house implementation has been done by Alan Lord and Alan Bell of The Open Learning Centre based in Farnham, Surrey.

Specialising in helping businesses gain a competitive advantage through Free and Open Source Software, Alan Lord spotted a perfect application fit for TfCT's programme using the Moodle Learning Management System (LMS); a free, Open Source software package designed using sound pedagogical principles, to help educators create effective online learning communities. Alan Lord said "The Moodle platform provides an extremely rich, powerful, cost-effective and flexible platform for TfCT to not simply just deliver their courseware, but also to give their customers access to additional content and enhanced community-based activities.".

Moving the programme in-house has enabled TfCT to include a range of current updates which learners can easily download, these includes; policy documents, and a pre-qualification questionnaire, which can be copied and completed and used as a working model, saving the SME valuable time.

As a direct result of the in-house move, coaching and mentoring support is now available to learners free of cost, via VOIP as well as email. This ‘value added support’ enables Sewell to help users with the structuring and presentation of their PQQ responses to the tender documents in real time.
