Positioned at number 48, it’s the first time that Sponge - which supplies creative ideas and mobile technology to leading brands and publishers including Northern & Shell, News International and Coca-Cola - appears in the prestigious list.
The Tech Track 100 2008 ranks Britain’s fastest-growing private technology companies based on three year sales growth between 2004 and 2007. Sponge achieved a growth rate of 60% in the three years to 2007.
“The growth Sponge has seen over the last two years has been immense, and gaining recognition as one of the Tech Track 100 is a great achievement,” said Alex Meisl, Chairman and co-founder of Sponge. “Sponge has evolved into a company that not only supplies mobile technology but offers creative ideas to brands and media owners from Barclays Bank to Birds Eye and Vodafone. As mobile internet sites are becoming crucial to a wide range of businesses, we are already working with the likes of Auto Trader and Daily Star to allow them to provide valuable cross-platform services to their customers.”
Sponge is featured alongside companies including Lovefilm and Betfair in the league table, which was published on 28 September in an eight-page supplement of The Sunday Times.
The 2008 awards dinner will be held on 25 November in central London. Speakers include John Denham MP, the Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills.
