JL Audio continues to stay ahead of the curve by producing powered subwoofers with exceptional musical and cinematic performance capabilities. The company’s Fathom® lineup has been acclaimed by professional reviewers and enthusiasts around the world, so JL Audio decided to celebrate by creating the most impressive Fathom yet, the new Fathom® f212.
The newest Fathom employs a pair of massive, new generation 12W7 subwoofer drivers in a sealed enclosure centered around the largest, most powerful and most refined motor systems JL Audio has ever used on a 12-inch woofer. The payoff is mind-blowing bass with enhanced output, reduced distortion and even greater transient accuracy than the JL Audio highly acclaimed single-woofer Fathoms. According to Carl Kennedy, Director of Home & Professional Products for JL Audio, “The f212 actually outperforms a pair of our stacked f112’s, without taking up any more space.”
Built into the Fathom f212 is JL Audio’s exclusive Automatic Room Optimization (A.R.O.) that measures and analyzes the response of the f212 in the listening space and corrects it with a powerful equalizer for optimal bass quality. A supplied laboratory-grade calibration microphone is included for this purpose.
The massive on-board switching amplifier is rated at 3000 watts (RMS short-term)—more than enough to handle even the most demanding movie soundtracks and has patented circuitry to maintain very tight control over the drivers at the extreme output levels the product is capable of. As with all Fathom models, balanced and unbalanced inputs are provided as well as a balanced output to simplify multiple subwoofer installations.
The f212 measures 31.96 inches H x 14.92 inches W x 20.39 inches D and weights 220 lbs.
