The growing concerns on rising energy costs and toxic waste management has pushed for the dawning of GREEN initiatives from different organizations. The lighting industry joins the GREEN revolution and introduces LED as the new trend in lighting technology.

Greenworld LED Solutions, Inc., inked an exclusive deal with Foxsemicon Integrated Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Hon Hai Holdings Taiwan for the distribution of its high quality LED lighting systems in the Philippines early this year.

The advances in the solid state lighting (SSL) particularly in LED systems have resulted to significant milestones to achieving energy savings, longer lifespan and better illumination in most general lighting applications such as outdoor and indoor illumination as compared to the traditional incandescent or fluorescent lamps.

LEDs have been developed to last for at least 35,000- 50,000 hours as compared to the 5,000 - 10,000 hours that the CFL’s life has. This further result to fewer spent lamps in the landfill and less frequent lamp purchasing/changing.

Likewise, LED lamps generate less heat than CFLs. And with the proper heat management techniques, it could dissipate heat totally. This would then decrease the load on air conditioning systems, reduce the danger of burning from touching the light lamps and reduce fire hazard.

LED lamps typically use less power (watts) per unit of light generated (lumens). A qualified LED lamp only generate half as many lumens as a CFL to reach the same illumination which means there would be less greenhouse gas emissions from power plants and lower electric bills for the consumers.

Global experts have actually confirmed that LED-based lighting systems can also reduce total cost of ownership (TCOO) through avoidance in maintenance and waste disposal costs and the reduction of electricity charges when compared to traditional incandescent or fluorescent lamps.

Greenworld LED Solutions, Inc. (greenworld.com.ph) is now serving a niche market in Cebu and Metro Manila which includes Bigfoot Properties, Metro Ayala, PLD Construction, NITOS and the Mactan Cebu International Airport. The Citipark Hotel, which will open in November, will also showcase the new LED lighting technology.
