Fletcher Martin, a fully integrated marketing communications agency, caught drivers’ attention during the evening rush hour in Atlanta yesterday with a unique publicity stunt.
The agency, which represents Arby’s, placed large helium balloons with the Arby’s logo near billboards that prominently featured people’s faces. The stunt gave the illusion the people on the billboard were “Thinking Arby’s” as seen in the popular television ads where the Arby’s hat appears above people’s heads.
The blogosphere was buzzing about the guerilla ad as consumers enjoyed the joke. On one blog, a commenter named ada said, “very nice. Everyone is talking about it. I hope to see it on my way home.” Others called it “cool” and “hilarious” and AdRants called it a “nice effort.”
The balloons were taken down as the evening rush hour ended. But, the quirky stunt succeeded in garnering attention for the restaurant chain.
