Andrew Stanten, president of Altitude Marketing, announced Thursday that Joe McDermott has been hired as Director of Editorial Services, signaling continued growth for the innovative Lehigh Valley integrated marketing firm.
McDermott comes to Altitude Marketing from the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation, where he served as Director of Communications. He has also worked as Communications Director/Assistant to the Mayor for the City of Allentown and spent more than 20 years as an award-winning newspaper journalist covering Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton, as well as school districts such as Parkland and Southern Lehigh.
“Joe possesses the uncanny ability to quickly grasp the essence of our wide-ranging portfolio of clients, challenge conventional thinking and dissect competitive landscapes,” Stanten said. “His journalistic style, publicist’s savvy and ability to take the view from 30,000 feet further heightens Altitude’s ability to produce compelling content that helps vault our clients to a position of prominence and strength.”
McDermott serves on the Penn State Lehigh Valley Advisory Board, where he chairs the Legislative-Outreach Committee, and he has served on the Steering Committee for the Hamilton Street Visioning Process, on the Marketing Committee for Allentown Ahead and on the Promotions/Marketing Committee for the Easton Main Street Initiative. He has taught journalism and remedial composition at Lehigh Carbon Community College at both the Schnecksville and Allentown campuses.
