CA has been working with VMware for several years to develop product integrations that help customers effectively deploy, optimize, manage and secure virtual systems across the enterprise.
In addition to the VMware Ready Management Program, CA is extending its current participation in the VMware Alliance Affiliate Initiative to also include Infrastructure Management solutions. “CA is currently running a successful program around Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery in the Alliance Affiliate Initiative, and we are now going to extend the participation to a second set of solutions for our joint customers,” said Eddie White, vice president of business development for CA.
With this expanded engagement, CA will develop solutions that seamlessly integrate CA’s virtual systems management and data center automation management products, CA Advanced Systems Management (CA ASM) and CA Data Center Automation Manager, with the VMware vCenter management product portfolio. The integrated solutions will be sold to enterprise and commercial customers through CA’s direct sales force, as well as through joint CA/VMware channel partners worldwide. CA and VMware are collaborating to assist customers in delivering highly available and properly managed IT solutions across physical and virtual environments.
“CA’s ongoing collaboration with VMware and their engagement with the VMware Ready Management Program is important for our joint customers’ success as they attempt to streamline and automate management processes across heterogeneous IT environments,” said Shekar Ayyar, vice president of infrastructure alliances at VMware. “CA’s solutions integrated with VMware vCenter APIs enable customers to get access to virtualization-smart solutions for key management functionality including discovery, monitoring and business service availability.”
“CA's solutions for VMware Infrastructure enable our customers to realize compelling business value from virtualization,” said Roger Pilc, corporate senior vice president and general manager of CA’s Infrastructure Management and Data Center Automation business unit. “By using enterprise-class systems and data center management architecture, tools, training, and processes customers can improve their data center’s agility, cost effectiveness and service availability.”
Integrating with the VMware vCenter management product portfolio under the VMware Ready Management Program provides an intelligent systems and application performance context for joint customers' VMware Infrastructure management tasks. Additionally, customers can use CA's centrally-managed, platform-neutral solution to discover, monitor, provision and optimize physical and virtual system resources to ensure service availability.
CA will discuss and demonstrate its ongoing collaboration with VMware at VMworld in booth 1234, as well as in a session titled “End-to-End Infrastructure Management – Integration Points from CA and VMware” September 17 from 11 am to 12 pm in room Titan 2305 of the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. The session led by Kouros Esfahany, vice president of development for CA, will explain how CA’s system management, virtualization management and data center automation technologies all leverage one another and work in harmony with VMware VirtualCenter to simplify end-to-end management of heterogeneous IT environments.
Stephen Elliot, vice president of strategy for CA’s Infrastructure Management and Data Center Automation business unit, will also participate in a panel discussion on “Harmonious Coexistence of Your Virtual and Physical Desktop: Leveraging Existing Configuration Management Tools to Manage Your Virtual Infrastructure.” The session, which will be held September 17 from 1 pm to 2 pm in room Bellini 2003 of the Venetian Hotel, will explore how desktop virtualization fits into established processes for packaging, provisioning, and reporting on physical systems. Elliot will discuss how virtualization and physical systems can coexist harmoniously with current tools. He will also provide insights on how to solve the virtualization challenge for application provisioning, audit and deployment.
