TVG to Offer Live Coverage of Emerald Downs' Mile Weekend Including the 73rd Annual Longacres Mile

Santa Ana, CA, United States, 09/04/2008 - TVG, America’s Horseracing Network, will kick off Emerald Downs’ much-anticipated Mile Weekend with exclusive, live coverage of the $100,000 Washington Oaks and the $300,000 Longacres Mile (GIII).
As the marquee race of Emerald Downs, this year’s Longacres Mile has been designated a Breeders’ Cup Challenge race with the winner having a guaranteed spot in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup World Championship Dirt Mile in October. The Longacres Mile was named a Challenge race following the expansion of this year’s qualifying races from 24 to a minimum of 49.
TVG analysts Todd Schrupp and Simon Bray will offer viewers up-to-the-minute reports and interviews live from the track beginning at 7:00 pm EST Saturday and Sunday.
The Longacres Mile is the richest stakes race west of Chicago and north of the Bay Area. This year’s 29 contenders include Tropic Storm, who has some of the best credentials on the list, and Flamethrowintexan, winner of the 2006 race and the only former winner set to return to this year’s race.
