Linden Leaves Natural Skincare, a natural and pure skincare company, introduces a new eco-friendly measure for packaging and shipping their entire product line which includes a plan to consistently take steps to “go green”. Already this year, the Linden Leaves Natural Skincare has removed the use of polystyrene chips from all domestic and international export orders.
Polystyrene chips, which are known to take hundreds of years to biodegradable in landfills, have been replaced by an innovative new material created from completely biodegradable plant starch. This plant-derived packaging material is so environmentally friendly it can even be eaten.
“This new step is part of an overall strategy at Linden Leaves Natural Skincare to offer customers “a moment of daily indulgence without it literally costing the earth dearly” states Brigit Blair, founder of Linden Leaves. Brigit also cites the company’s efforts to maintain a low carbon footprint as part of the overall Linden Leaves Natural Skincare sustainability philosophy and comments: “There is a growing awareness in every marketplace of how important it is to be aware of how what we are doing today can affect all our tomorrows. It is wonderful that people are starting to stand up and take responsibility for their own environmental awareness, and we try to offer our customers as much information as possible to allow them to make beneficial choices in their personal skincare decisions and their daily lives.”
Linden Leaves Natural Skincare, which is distributed across the United States and around the world, has their production plant in New Zealand rely primarily on “Green Electricity” to power the production of our Nature Skincare line. The company also ships its natural skincare products on huge container ships along with thousands of square meters of other goods, instead of by air, to reduce the amount of energy expended to ship them to Linden Leaves international distributors. As a matter of fact Linden Leaves expends less energy shipping products to the UK distributor than products made in the UK with non-clean energy and trucked to their final deliver location.
This new sustainable packaging option costs in excess of four hundred percent more than non-green alternatives, meaning this step comes at a steep expense for the company, and at a time where freight and distribution prices are rising overall. Linden Leaves founder, and managing director, Brigit Blair says the costs of the changeover were definitely a consideration for delaying the project, but that the overall benefit to the environment and to remain true to the company’s ideals was more important.
