London, United Kingdom, 09/01/2008 - Axon Cable of France, a specialist in electronic cables, has extended its Axolink® line of flat cable assemblies for high-definition flat-screen displays.

The company now offers shielded links terminated with connectors compatible with FI-R or FI-X (JAE) connectors.
The Axolink® range is designed for connecting high-definition (HD) flat-screen displays with low-voltage differential signalling (LVDS) systems from companies including CMO, LG Philips, Mitsubishi, NEC, Sanyo and Sharp.
Axon Cable is one of the only manufacturers to offer LVDS screened flat cables with a pitch of 1.00mm. These consist of a flat flexible cable with 30 conductors in either tin copper or gold plating, insulated with polyester tapes. They are terminated with FI-X connectors or other compatible connectors. This is the ideal solution for monitors and for 26-inch and 32-inch television screens (HD ready with a resolution of 1270x730).
To connect bigger television displays such as 42-inch, 52-inch, and 60-inch full HD (resolution of 1900x1080) and 100Hz screens, Axon Cable offers 0.50mm pitch shielded flat cables with 41 or 51 conductors terminated with connectors compatible with FI-R (JAE) connectors.
The LVDS screened flat cables are a cost-effective alternative to twisted pairs and miniature coaxials, guaranteeing both lower costs and better performance. The cables are equipped with the appropriate connectors and can work at up to 1Gbit, which corresponds to a basic cycle of 130MHz for a flat display.
The shielding of these cables is carried out with a ground plane, which is grounded on the connector. This reduces crosstalk and ensures a constant impedance of 100Ω for very stable picture transmission.
Axolink® flat cables can be used for all board-to-flat-panel display interconnects where Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) / Flat Panel Display Interface (FPDI-1) is specified. Axon Cable already offers non-shielded flat cables terminated with DF-9 connectors (Hirose) for 10-inch panels. The group also manufactures FFCs terminated with DF-19 connectors (Hirose) for LVDS applications, which work at a lower frequency for 10-inch to 15-inch flat panels.
