It is now possible to transact information in any form, such as documents, reports, e-books, plans, video/audio, photographs, software applications or spreadsheets, to name a few. The aim of this community is to allow people to interact with each other and offer or receive help and advice on any topic.
Documents can be purchased and downloaded immediately and prices are set by the seller. User feedback will rate the quality of each document and provide an at-a-glance ranking system to guide users to the best sources of information to download and meet their needs.
The site launches with around 1,000 signed up members who have already posted an expert selection of their own documents for immediate purchase. Doxmart hosts the most extensive range of categories covering business, educational and leisure topics. Headings include: House & Home; Business & Work; Education & Development; Sport & Games; Travel & Leisure and Health & Wellbeing.
Documents are easy to find as users can browse the various categories, or search by parameters that include keywords, industry sector, or feedback rating. A partial preview of the document is available for most file types, to enable potential purchasers to get a feel for what they are buying. All file formats can be accepted, and all files are scanned and checked for viruses and malware at the time of uploading.
Over the coming weeks, future developments to the site will enable members of the Doxmart community to create personal profile pages to generate contacts and leads for themselves and/or their services.
Doxmart will have information on sale from just 50p, and respected individuals from a wide range of industries have already started to contribute to the site. Peter B Lloyd, a freelance writer and IT consultant, is one such contributor who has uploaded, amongst others, Exegesis of the Matrix. This is an accessible guide to the ideas of the first two of the Matrix trilogy films - Lloyd is the philosopher who features in material on the Matrix box-set bonus DVD.
The Vigil, a Lebanese poet and musician; Deborah Marshall Warren who has uploaded a series of ‘Hypno-to-go’ hypnotherapy works; and Rosalyn Palmer, Insight & Innovation Director at Go MAD Thinking, with systems documents, best practice and PR proposal information, are examples of the variety of information that is already available for purchase, using the Doxmart system.
Doxmart operates under the highest ethical principles. The Doxmart Charter sets out six key principles that guide the operation, and its management, staff and members pledge to uphold. Doxmart’s own Respe©t charter urges users to observe copyright protocols.
Its pricing model is user-controlled, as members set their own price, with a minimum price for any document starting at 50 pence, while there is no maximum limit. A hosting fee of £1.80 for six months or £3.25 for 12 months is payable for each document uploaded, and members receive between 78 per cent and 94 per cent of the gross price for each sale, depending on their membership category and the document sale price. Gold members pay less hosting and commission fees.
It is possible for uploaders to choose who benefits from the sale of their documents. All or part of royalties received can be dedicated to anyone who is registered with Doxmart such as a charity, community association, co-author, family member or other beneficiary. It is hoped that Doxmart will revolutionise charitable giving.
PayPal will be used for reliable and safe payment processing and members can take advantage of Doxmart credits - an internal credit management system which enables members to use the income they earn to purchase documents, document hosting, membership upgrades or other products.
