Kaneiwa Soy Sauce, LLC Announced Their First 'Kongo-Kukai' Labeled Product

NewswireToday - /newswire/ - Arida-gun, Wakayama, Japan, 08/05/2008 - Rainbow AI Corporation, a marketing company located in Wakayama City, together with Kaneiwa Soy Sauce, a soy sauce manufacturer established in 1912 in the town of Aridagawa, announced their first “Kongo-Kukai” labeled product today.

Promoting Wakayama’s own traditional products, which carry the brand name honoring a father of Japanese culture "Kukai".

The “Kongo-Kukai” label honors the late highest priest Kukai, who opened Koyasan (Mt. Koyo, registered to UNESCO’s world heritage list in 2001), and established, taught and practiced the Shingon Buddhist sect almost 1,200 years ago. "Kongo-Kukai" is a registered trade mark for Rainbow AI, and will be used for marketing several traditional products originated in Wakayama. Rainbow AI has already introduced its cured plum (Ume-Boshi) and Japanese sake after donating the very first batch.

In 2015, Koyasan will celebrate the 1,200th anniversary of its foundation. Koyasan and “Kongo-Kukai” would play important roles to make many people aware of what Wakayama can offer.

According to some historical records, Kukai and Kaniwa have a historical tie since Kukai has practiced on ‘Kasa-iwa” (the rock on Oishi Hill), which is located in Kaneiwa’s backyard (Aridagawa). Recognition of the “Kongo-Kukai” label and the rich tradition of soy sauce making in the area around the area should attract those people pay respect to “Kukai”, Rainbow AI is planning to add more products to its “Kongo-Kukai” product family in the next few months.

About Kukai (Known as Kobo Daishi by the followers of Shingon Buddhism)

Kukai was born in 774 in the province of Sanuki (current Kagawa Pref.). He was a renowned monk who established Shingon Buddhism during the Heian era. In 816, after receiving permission from Emperor Saga, Kukai officially founded the seminary community of Koyasan. Since its induction, he dedicated himself to the creation of an Esoteric Buddhism School, while also providing spiritual support for the common people. He entered into eternal meditation on March 21, 835, surrounded by his devoted disciples. He is believed to still be alive and continues to provide relief to those who ask for salvation. In the last 1200 years, his teachings, rituals and traditions in Koyasan have not changed. Through the efforts of countless people, the community has been able to preserve most of its rich heritage and its customs, except for a few notable changes that have occurred over time.
