AdJug Ltd, the online advertising marketplace where advertisers and publishers can buy and sell ads directly, today announces a strategic investment in India’s growing online advertising market.
Following its launch late last year, AdJug has rapidly expanded in Europe and now the company will spend initially $2million implementing a local auction model specifically for the Indian market with substantial further investment planned for rapid development.
AdJug will establish an office facility in Bangalore and create a launch team of up to 15 people. The team will use AdJug’s existing European system to build an India-focussed model that will deploy local currency systems for local brands.
The AdJug model differs from the way online advertisements are bought and sold through current ad networks as advertisers can choose exactly where their ads are displayed and then optimise spend based on how much they want to pay for traffic from a publisher.
The proposition also benefits publishers, who can define how much an advertiser pays for ad space, offering a real valuation of what their traffic is worth based on whether advertisers are willing to buy ad space for the asking price. A number of Indian publishers have already used the AdJug marketplace to sell inventory space in Europe.
The AdJug marketplace in Europe is currently achieving more than half a billion ad impressions per month and growing fast, with more than 1,200 publisher sites including Trinity Mirror’s AMRA holding, UpMyStreet.com, TouchLocal and VivaStreet listed.

AdJug was founded by Satish Jayakumar, a serial entrepreneur and Michael Stephanblome. Satish was part of the launch team of paid-for listings provider Espotting and later started contextual advertising company, Nixxie. Michael is former Marketing Director eBay Germany and more recently Managing Director of classified ads community service Gumtree.
