The 68th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally kicked off today with a guest appearance by Senator John McCain at a veteran's and military tribute, and included the Mayor's Ride to Mt. Rushmore. Sturgis draws half a million rally and music fans every year, nearly doubling the state's population..
Rolling Stone Magazine calls Sturgis one of the best music festivals in the world - even though it's a motorcycle rally. Twenty-four bands will rock out on the Wolfman Jack stage at Buffalo Chip, including Three Doors Down, Kid Rock, Blind Melon, Alice Cooper, ZZ Top, Theory of a Dead Man, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Finger 11, Sugarland, Dierks Bentley, Staind, & Saving Able.
KISS made a detour stateside from their sold out European tour of 35th ALIVE in order to play Sturgis.
The non-stop entertainment continues through August 10, and Bikeweek.com is committed to bring news and hundreds of photos to rally fans who were not able to be at Sturgis this year, and the site's Relive the Ride feature is slated to be in fullswing soon after rally attendees return home.
