Sour Cherry Sorbet is a special flavor that J.P. Licks created from fruit that is locally grown, without the use of pesticides.

J.P. Licks’ Sour Cherry Sorbet is extremely popular and will be available for a short time only at the Centre Street store while supplies last.

J.P. Licks partnered with EarthWorks, a Roxbury-based non-profit that runs City Fruit orchards, in the creation of Sour Cherry Sorbet, the first in a series of new flavors. These special flavors will be made with fruit grown in City Fruit orchards, which are small patches of fruiting trees and shrubs that EarthWorks plants as a means to reclaiming and improving urban greenspace.

“The fruit has been grown locally, without the use of pesticides, which is very attractive to JP Licks and our customers,” said Kimberly Sawchuk, JP Licks, Director of Operations. “We thought it was a terrific idea to tie our Jamaica Plain store to fruit grown in the neighborhood.”

EarthWorks strives to connect Boston neighborhoods with the valuable resources provided by the orchards. The non-profit recently received one of Mayor Thomas M.
