Golden Valley, MN, United States, 2008/07/30 - 2008 PRO AV Magazine Spotlight Judges' Award AV Integrator: Graybow Communications Group The Spotlight Awards recognize the best professional audio/video installations designed for corporate, educational, and other non-residential applications.
PRO AV, published by Hanley Wood LLC, today announced 11 winners of the first annual PRO AV Spotlight Awards. The program recognizes the best professional audio/video installations designed for corporate, educational and other non-residential applications.
"We're extremely proud of the Spotlight Awards program," said Brad Grimes, Editor of PRO AV. "The response from the AV community was greater than we anticipated in our inaugural year and we expect to see good growth in the coming years. This program is our way of recognizing the fantastic work in professional audio/video integration that to date has gone largely unrewarded."
Entries came into PRO AV from the United States and Canada in vertical market categories including Corporate, Retail, Education, House of Worship, Government, Health Care, Entertainment/Arts, and Hospitality/Restaurant. Entered projects varied in scope from corporate boardrooms to university buildings, with AV budgets ranging from $25,000 to $4 million.
"It wasn't until after the judging that we realized the geographic breadth of the winners," "Almost every PRO AV Spotlight Award winner is from a different state, showing that great work is happening everywhere."
"After nearly a month of deliberations, we're pleased to announce 11 winners of the Spotlight Awards, a collection of AV projects that range from leading-edge to inspirational. Nine of the winners were deemed the best in their respective vertical markets; two additional winners were given special Judges' Awards for being unique applications worthy of singling out.
One of our other favorites? Check out the Adopt-a-Room project at the University of Minnesota Fairview Hospital, one of our two Judges' Award winners. Designed to give children facing extended hospital stays a unique experience, integrator Graybow Communications Group did everything from connect PTZ cameras on the hospital's roof so kids could see the Mississippi River on a 50-inch screen, to program LED lights that allow patients to "paint" the walls their favorite color, " said Grimes.
