Maxthon today announced that it passed its 50 million download since its launch 2003. Maxthon is looking back at a very successful 2005 where it was awarded the Red Herring Asia 100 award, named one of the best 100 products by PC World Magazine, was publicly endorsed by Microsoft and leading Wall Street Internet Analysts.
The flexible Maxthon browser provide users with tabbed browsing, super drag & drop, high privacy and personal security, Ad hunter, mouse gestures, RSS detection, build in RSS reader, Podcast support and much more. The Maxthon browser is furthermore characterized by its high level of customization, rich plug-in architecture, safety and speed.
The Maxthon Browser that is based on Internet Explorer technology, has grown very popular in China and throughout the Far East and is now rapidly gaining ground in the US and Europe as well. Until recently it has been especially popular amongst early adopters and advanced Internet users with very high demands on customization, speed and security.
For the general Internet audience, Maxthon has for a long time seem cryptic and by some even considered more secretive and more tight-lipped than the Illuminati. However, in early January this year at CES in Las Vegas, Maxthon for the first time exposed it self to the general public by exhibiting together with Microsoft®.
“We are very excited that Maxthon is growing so fast and that more and more people are realizing what a good browser it really is” said Netanel Jacobsson, SVP and Partner at Maxthon. “We are looking forward to the next major release of Maxthon 2.0 soon, which is a total rebuilt that promises many surprises”.
Jeff Chen, CEO and founder added, “We thank for all Maxthon users who have supported us for many years and want to share this amazing moment with them”.
Maxthon is a privately owned company founded in 2003 in Hong Kong. In spring 2005, the Danish serial entrepreneur and early seed investor in Skype, Morten Lund invested in the company together with US/Chinese venture capital firm WI Harper Group to lift Maxthon to new heights and create additional awareness for it throughout Europe and the US.
