The Paso Robles Lions Club is proud to announce Angel Robinson as their 2008 Lion of the Year. She was voted as Lion of the Year because of her dedication to the core humanitarian values held by the Lions Club organization such as generosity, compassion and concern for others less fortunate. "Robinson was chosen for her outstanding and meritorious service. She provides inspiration and guidance for the membership at large," said Lion President Dave Simpson.
Robinson, owner of Paso Robles based AR & Co. PR & Marketing, recently completed her first year as an inducted Lion and donated over 50 hours of staff time to promote “Lionism.” She is the first woman Lion of the Year and the second of only four women to have ever been sworn into the Paso Robles chapter in its 68-year history.
“I really enjoy giving back to the community,” Robinson said. “The Paso Lions are a group of people who serve humbly and loyally, and cherish the city of Paso Robles. They welcomed me with graciousness and friendship from day one. I was very surprised and felt honored to have been voted Lion of the Year.”
In addition to her in-kind donation of volunteer work to the Lions Club, Robinson has also served as the 2008 Paso Robles Student Speaker Contest chairperson, club photographer, club Relations Director and will serve as a director for the next two years.
The Lions Club International is the largest service organization in the world and works to end preventable blindness on the urging of Helen Keller since 1925. The Paso Robles Lions regularly perform service projects to better the quality of life in Paso Robles like: free yearly student eye screening, the free Pioneer Day Bean Feed, refurbishing all benches in the downtown core, Lions Field repair and maintenance, and fundraising for Paso Robles High School Sportsmanship Awards, Student Speaker Contests and Annual Scholarships.
