Construction is complete for the new Border Patrol El Centro Sector Headquarter Facilities located at 221 West Aten in Imperial, California. KMA Architecture & Engineering (KMA) was retained by Baker Engineering as design architect for the $17 million project owned by The United States Department of Homeland Security.
The project included a two-level, 69,949 square foot sector headquarters building, expansion of an existing chiller building, and canopy parking areas. The design of the headquarters building complements the adjacent existing Border Patrol Station building. A large, curved canopy structure and inviting courtyard connects the two buildings.
Don Blair and Joyce Peabody comprised KMA’s design team for the project. Baker Engineering provided engineering services and landscape architecture. Cox Construction served as general contractor.
The El Centro facility is just one of several border patrol projects that KMA has been retained to design. Additional projects include a 55,000 square-foot new United States Border Patrol Station at Campo, and the Imperial Beach Station and Brown Field Sector Support Facilities.
Headquartered in San Diego, KMA (kma-ae.com) has provided integrated architectural, engineering and planning services throughout Southern California and the Western United States since 1973. The company's services include site selection assistance, land planning, programming, scheduling, project design, mechanical and plumbing engineering, field supervision and construction administration. KMA also offers Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) accredited principals with expertise in the development of sustainable, high-performance buildings.
