Jakfish Launches Innovative Maternity Clothing Line Made in Vermont - Wins Polartec APEX Award
NewswireToday - /newswire/ -
Essex Junction, VT, United States, 07/17/2008 - Jakfish, a mom-owned, Vermont company is making waves in the maternity, outdoor, and exercise industries, with a line of performance clothing specially designed for the ever-changing pregnant body. Two styles recently won the Polartec APEX Award 2008.
Active and athletic pregnant women can finally get the exercise they need and want while wearing well-fitting, performance maternity clothing. If you are not aware that regular physical exercise is recommended for good physical and mental health, put down those chips, turn off the TV, and move slowly off the couch. Until now, there has been a void in the performance apparel industry for active and athletic pregnant women.
The concept of Jakfish was envisioned in 2005 by Stephanie Teleen, a mother of two, who wanted to continue her active lifestyle throughout her pregnancies. While the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommended that pregnant women get a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise daily, there were no clothes specifically designed for active and athletic pregnant women. After many fruitless searches for appropriately fitting clothing made with the kind of performance fabrics Stephanie was accustomed to in her pre-pregnancy clothes, she made the decision to create her own line of maternity clothing to fill the void. The first products in her initial line of Jakfish clothing became available for purchase in April 2008.
All Jakfish clothing is specifically designed to fit women throughout the ever-changing stages of pregnancy, while retaining all of the characteristics active people expect from exceptional performance clothing such as venting zippers and strategically placed thumb holes for superior fit. Studies show that women who do a moderate amount of exercise during pregnancy generally feel better throughout the pregnancy, have more stamina during labor and may even recover more quickly after childbirth. With this thought in mind, Jakfish clothing is designed to be versatile enough to be worn in the mountains, by the ocean and at the gym (and for some women, even at work!).
As an exciting addition to the launch of this innovative company, Jakfish is proud to announce that it has been awarded the Polartec® APEX Award 2008 for two of its products. This puts Jakfish in the company of such well-known outdoor retailers as The North Face, LL Bean, Patagonia and Marmot. This award is given to companies using Polartec® fabrics and is judged on innovation, design, style, workmanship, fit and functionality.
Named after one of Stephanie’s son’s favorite children’s songs, Jakfish (jakfish.com) joins a long list of outstanding Vermont companies known for their quality products in the outdoor industry. All Jakfish products are made in Vermont and are available online at the Jakfish website as well as in limited boutique stores throughout the northeastern U.S.
