The global social networking forum (call-centre.co.uk) now has its 1000th member. The site was formed in December 2007 to cater to the global demand from call centre professionals around the world to share best practice, contacts and ideas.

The site now has members from every continent and looks set to reach 5000 members by the end of 2008. Ever since Western companies started outsourcing to India and the developing world, the call centre world has become increasingly small. One of the key aims of the site was to link up buyers of call centre services in The West with vendors of these services around the world and reduce the need for middlemen. One other key area has been to enable individuals to share their ideas.

With millions of people now working in call centres around the world, there are many people with ideas to share on various topics from recruitment to operations and training. In September, the site will also launch a free job and cv posting board enabling companies to avoid the need for expensive recruitment agencies. The site is constantly monitored to reduce any potential risks from spammers or over-zealous marketers and to ensure that postings do not breach the terms and conditions. The call centre specific media has been criticised over recent years for failing to provide a balanced view of call centres but instead focus on the technical aspects of call centres as technology companies tend to be the main advertisers.

The site now receives over 3000 hits per day and this figure is doubling in size every 2 months and looks set to increase as new features are added.
