Harcase Software Ltd. today announced that Southern United Fire Insurance Company (Southern United), a subsidiary of Kingsway Financial Services Inc. and a provider of specialized automobile insurance products, has gone live with the Harcase Point of Sale Portal for its personal line of non-standard automobile business. The company has successfully completed the first phase of a multi-phase project and has just rolled out new business functionality to its 1,600 independent brokers across six states.
Keeping up with competitors is always a challenge in the P&C insurance industry, but Southern United is closing the gap and positioned to lead the way with the introduction of a new customized portal tool to ensure that its network of independent agents has the latest in modern tools to quickly and easily issue new automobile policies. “We are excited to release an innovative information technology product to our agents and internal users. This user friendly web application will not only facilitate customer interaction, but also provide a means to compete using technology in our continuously evolving market,” commented Leslie DiMaggio, President and CEO of Southern United. “We named the Harcase/Southern United point of sale portal the Fast Track because that name is indicative of what the application will mean to our customers. It allows our agents to quote and bind coverage quickly and easily,” DiMaggio continued.
“The Harcase staff has provided an excellent product and we couldn’t be more pleased with the ease of implementation and support that they have provided Southern United. They have shown the versatility of their product by providing a solution that can stand alone or integrate with a legacy system,” said DiMaggio.
The project was set in motion using the framework already developed, tested and in production for other Kingsway Financial subsidiaries. Together with the Southern United team, Harcase customized and built out the portal service to deliver an enterprise architecture to support rapid policy changes, MVR Retrieval, VIN Services and address validation services along with enhanced functionality for Southern United to adequately respond to their producer requirements. “Through this user-inspired interface, not only can Southern United’s agents effortlessly place business and interact with the existing new business and document issuance services, but they can also perform inquiries on policy, claims and billing in addition to retrieving information and advice on complex cases,” said Dan Sobotincic, President and CEO of Harcase Software Ltd. “We are delighted with the progress we have jointly achieved with Southern United and look forward to working with them to bring more advanced capabilities to their agent network,” he added.
The Southern United and Harcase project teams are now deeply immersed in Phase 2 of the project which will see complete policy change functionality for auto policies available to agents from their desktop. Following this phase, Southern United will be moving on to allow uploads from third party rating services for new business and policy changes. “As we roll out the future phases of the application, we will continue to provide additional layers of functionality which will in turn provide a ‘one stop shopping’ experience to the agent by giving access and the ability to manage his or her Southern United book of business,” said DiMaggio.
