Time Warner Cable, the nation’s second-largest cable television operator and provider of telecommunications services, announced today that it has signed on as the sponsor of the 2008 Tuesday evening Family Entertainment Series at the world renowned Chautauqua Institution. The free concert series designed to appeal to all family members provides fun, interactive entertainment ranging from music to mime, puppetry, dance and more. The Tuesday night entertainment usually takes place in Smith–Wilkes or Lenna Hall and runs from June 24 until August 19 at 7:00 pm. Traditionally the Family Entertainment Series has attracted from 3,000 to 5,000 local residents and tourists each summer.

“Time Warner Cable in Buffalo is proud to be able to partner with this national historic landmark located in our backyard. The Chautauqua Institution has been a vital part of our community for over 134 years as both a teaching and vacation destination. We are thrilled to present this year’s Chautauqua Family Entertainment Series and encourage local residents as well as tourists to visit this gem of an institution,” stated Robin L. Wolfgang, Buffalo Division Vice President of Public Affairs and Government Affairs, Time Warner Cable.

“Without the support of local companies like Time Warner Cable the Chautauqua Institution would not be able to provide the variety and caliber of fine entertainment each year which both entertains and educates our patrons. We need partners like Time Warner Cable to continue to grow and thrive,” said Tina E. Cordner, Assistant Director, Chautauqua Fund.
Performing this year in the Family Entertainment Series are acts including Al Simmons “Inventive Musical Comedy”, Fred Garbo Inflatable Theatre Company, The Golden Dragon Acrobats, Barbara Bailey Hutchison, Dan Butterworth and his Marionettes, Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet, and Peter Phippen “World Flutes: Past and Present.” Family entertainment events being held in the Amphitheater are $16.00 per ticket for adults. Children 12 & under are free of charge and do not require tickets for entry. All evening Amphitheater tickets are valid for entry to the grounds from 4 pm until midnight. All Tuesday evening performances are free to the public. To learn more about the Chautauqua Institution and its Family Entertainment Series their website.
