Global publisher Wiley-Blackwell, which is part of John Wiley & Sons, Inc., today announced that a significant number of new journals from its Asia-Pacific list have been included in the Thomson ISI® Web of Science – representing a substantial increase in coverage of Wiley-Blackwell’s Asia-Pacific journals.
An additional 31 journals have been indexed and are due to receive their first Impact Factor by 2009/ 2010 – including 13 journals from the publisher’s Social Sciences and Humanities list. Wiley-Blackwell has now achieved complete coverage by ISI for its regional publishing programmes in its two key subject areas of geography and economics.
Journals in Wiley-Blackwell’s new starts program - those publishing their fourth volume and younger - accepted into the ISI listing include Asia-Pacific Journal of Clinical Oncology, China & World Economy, and Management and Organization Review.
Wiley-Blackwell also announced that six of its Asia Pacific journals have received Impact Factors for the first time in the Thomson ISI® 2007 Journal Citation Reports – taking the total number of Wiley-Blackwell Asia-Pacific JCR listed titles to 50.
The journals from Wiley-Blackwell’s Asia-Pacific list that had the greatest improvement in their ranking were The Developing Economies and Singapore Journal of Tropical Geography from the Social Sciences & Humanities category, and the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Public Health from the Professional list. The Australian Journal of Grape and Wine Research remains in the top 20% in its category and is the highest ranked viticulture journal worldwide.

Wiley-Blackwell’s medical journals showed an 8.5% average increase in Asia Pacific, with highlights including a 51% increase in Impact Factor to 1.892 for Hepatology Research, and a 23.7% jump for Pathology International to 1.371.
