Solutions4MDs, a provider of complete accounts receivable management services to medical practices, is pleased to announce that it has been hired by Carolina Women’s Research and Wellness Center to handle the practice’s medical billing and collections. Located within the Women’s Wellness Clinic in Durham, CWRWC offers clinical opportunities focused on women's health and wellness.
CWRWC founder, Dr. Andrea Lukes, served on Duke University’s faculty from 1998 to 2007, during which time she co-founded and served as Duke’s Director of Gynecology for the Women’s Hemostasis and Thrombosis Clinic. She says that it was her time at Duke that gave her a good perspective as to how she wanted to structure her own practice. Through her work with Duke’s billing, she met Solutions4MDs’ partner, Trent Shelton.
“Medical coding is something that you have to do correctly, the first time,” explains Dr. Lukes. “I was impressed by the knowledge and professionalism of both Trent and Sonny [Miller, Solutions4MDs’ partner]. Their ability to effectively manage our coding and billing will allow my staff to focus our attention on the medical care of the women we see.”
Solutions4MDs will be managing all of CWRWC’s medical coding and billing. The company will be responsible for sending claims to the insurance company, providing follow up to ensure payment, resolving disputes, and communicating with patients regarding their bills. Solutions4MDs will also work closely with CWRWC to review their internal billing and coding processes to ensure documentation compliance.
Shelton says that his company is excited to be working with Dr. Lukes’ practice and is pleased that Solutions4MDs was able to meet a need that many physician practices have—lowering overhead costs and optimizing reimbursement. He adds that good cash flow is especially important for new practices, like CWRWC, and Solutions4MDs specializes in getting new practices up and running quickly.
“Solutions4MDs was able to do many key things before Carolina Women’s Research and Wellness Center opened its doors,” says Shelton. “We worked closely with Dr. Lukes and her staff to establish a fee schedule and encounter form, prepare insurance plan enrollment, and define a process for efficient transfer of information. Everything was ready the day they had their first patient.”
Dr. Lukes says that she meets with the Solutions4MDs’ team regularly to ensure that the process works for everyone involved and to ensure that the billing and code are performed correctly.
