The Prescott POPS Symphony is proud to announce that the world renowned, Grammy-nominated violinist, Anastasia Khitruk will be joining them in performance at their first concert of the 2008-2009 season. This concert, “Russian Rhapsody,” is scheduled for Sunday, July 13, 2008 at 3:00pm in the Yavapai College Performance Hall.
“We are extremely happy and excited to have Miss Khitruk as our guest and perform with us in concert,” said Paul Manz, Music Director and Conductor of the POPS. “I can assure all who are lucky enough to get tickets, that they will be hearing one of the finest young violinists in the world. Her performance will be phenomenal and it will truly be, an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see and hear a musician of her caliber.” he added.
The 60-piece orchestra is slated to play a selection of works, all centered on the Russian theme. The 1812 Overture and Violin Concerto, which will feature Anastasia, were composed by Pyotr Illyich Tchaikovsky, one of Russia’s prolific and most well-known composers. Audience members can also look forward to music from Fiddler on the Roof, James Bond: 007, and Misty, featuring clarinetist, Vito Platamone.
