Kaminski Auctions, one of Massachusetts’ premier antiques and fine art auction houses, announces its July Fine Art & Estates Auction. This one-day auction offers a dazzling array of fine art accompanied by fine furnishings, jewelry, antique oriental rugs, sculpture and more from estates across Massachusetts’ North Shore and beyond. A featured collection of paintings comes from the family of well-known Rockport artist Ken Gore. The auction takes place under the tent at Kaminski Auctions, 564 Cabot Street in Beverly, on Saturday, July 12, 2008 with bidding commencing at 10am. Preview periods are scheduled July 8-11 from 10am-5pm each day on-site at Kaminski Auctions. Online bidding is available through eBay Live Auctions. For more information, please call 978-927-2228 or visit us online.

A painting by American artist Hermann Dudley Murphy (1867-1945) headlines the sale. Poppies (est. $60,000-$80,000), still in its original frame, hails from a New Jersey estate. Murphy was a painter and frame-maker based in Boston, Massachusetts and attended the Boston Museum School and the Academie Julien, Paris. Influenced by Whistler’s painting style, Murphy’s still lifes of the 1920s represent his most sought-after works. The painting is signed and dated 1928.

A rare English plaque (Est. $5,000-$8,000) painted by artist Clarice Cliff is also offered. Cliff painted the piece after Frank Brangwyn’s renowned British Empire panels, now on display in the Swansea Guildhall in Wales. The piece highlights Cliff and Brangwyn’s shared affinity for vivid colors.

Also featured is a painting by French artist, Narcisse-Virgile Diaz de la Pena (1807-1876). The landscape (est. $15,000-$25,000) depicts the French commune Fontainebleau, a municipality second in size only to Paris. Diaz is known for his skill as a colorist and his ability to render light in his works.

Decorative accessories include a Russian 14 karat gold round box (est. $3,400-$3,600). Made of both ruby and yellow gold, the vessel boasts an ornate filigree set with diamonds and a cabochon ruby at its center. Despite its 1 7/8” diameter, this diminutive piece bears many fine details and a hallmark indicating its origin in Saint Petersburg.

Gathering Wildflowers (est. $15,000-$20,000) by American painter Charles Heberer (1868-1951) also graces the auction block. Heberer began his studies at the St. Louis School of Fine Arts and moved on to the Academie Julian in Paris. While he was a prolific portraitist, he is best known for his colorful landscapes.

“We’ve received a bevy of rare and remarkable paintings for our July auction,” comments Frank Kaminski, owner of Kaminski Auctions. “We are always looking for items to feature in upcoming auctions and can take consignments in any volume, from a single piece to an entire estate.”
