In its initial stages, the journal will be published on a twice-yearly basis, with potential to expand to quarterly or bimonthly publication.
Clinical Ovarian Cancer is a peer-reviewed journal that features original articles describing various aspects of clinical and translational research in ovarian cancer. Clinical Ovarian Cancer is devoted to articles on detection, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of ovarian and other gynecologic cancers. The main emphasis is on recent scientific developments in all areas related to gynecologic malignancies. Specific areas of interest include clinical research and mechanistic approaches; drug sensitivity and resistance; gene and antisense therapy; pathology, markers, and prognostic indicators; chemoprevention strategies; multimodality therapy; and integration of various approaches.
The Editor-in-Chief of Clinical Ovarian Cancer is J. Tate Thigpen, MD. Dr. Thigpen is a professor in the Department of Medicine and is the director of the Division of Medical Oncology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
“Clinical Ovarian Cancer seeks to fill an important role for the practicing gynecologic and medical oncologists by providing original articles as well as timely reviews and debates on controversial issues that oncologists confront daily. The debate format, particularly, will provide information in a unique way that allows oncologists to draw their own conclusions for application to patient care,” Dr. Thigpen says.
Dr. Thigpen will be supported by four associate editors: Dr. Ronald Alvarez, University of Alabama at Birmingham; Dr. Fred Stehman, Indiana University; Dr. Michael Birrer, National Cancer Institute; and Dr. John Blessing, Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
