Realityodds.com Launches Website with Odds on Reality Television Shows

NewswireToday - /newswire/ - Evansville, IN, United States, 06/14/2008 - Realityodds.com, an entertainment site, recently launched. The non-gambling website provides weekly odds for reality television shows. Will include predictions.

Realityodds.com launched in early June of 2008. The website aims to provide odds on a weekly basis for reality television shows.
Currently the website is anchoring in on shows like The Bachelorette, The Mole, Last Comic Standing, American Idol and Celebrity Apprentice.
As the fall television season arrives, Realityodds.com will continue to add to it's own lineup.
Realityodds.com was created by Chris Houston with several things in mind.

The first goal was to provide reality television shows with a forum to further speculate which reality television star might win or get booted off each and every week.
Realityodds.com will also provide in depth analysis of reality television shows and tour dates, tidbits and breaking news concerning the characters involved in each show.

Can you imagine having the access to odds on which reality television star is most likely to win on a given week? Realityodds.com will make those predictions each week during the television season.
There is also a forum on the website and blog from author and creator Chris Houston.
Houston was amazed there was no other website specifically designed to provide odds on a weekly basis. "I think it only adds a little fuel to the reality fire to have a website like this. I know that people love to talk reality television. I enjoy it almost as much as I do watching it each night. One thing is for sure, opinions about reality television shows are so vastly different that it makes it very fun to speculate and try to predict what can or will happen. We will provide our opinion each week and that's strictly what it is. Just an educated guess from a viewer just like you. Does that mean it will always be right? Probably not. But the odds will continue to evolve as the shows continue to progress and who knows, maybe the initial projection will be more accurate than imagined."

Realityodds.com wants to be the Churchill Downs of the reality television industry minus the wagering. There will be no gambling on the site or links to any such establishments.
Realityodds.com hopes to have over 500 original articles and content over the next 6 months. The initial goal will allow people who are using keyword searches to find realityodds.com in a more convenient fashion.
The site has already been submitted to several search engines and ranks high in several google and yahoo search choices.
Here is an example of some of the insight Realityodds.com will provide in this article written this month:

Nashville Star" will be no "American Idol". Nor will it try to be. Although I am confident that in some portions the new prime time slot will change the dynamics of the "Nashville Star" we saw on USA Network. The old "Nashville Star" used a similar theme. There will be 3 judges, all of which usually had some relationship to country music. Sometimes "Nashville Star" rotated judges during the season. Although this season one of the former hosts, Jewel, will be a judge.

The host this season will be Billy Ray Cyrus. Cyrus is a former country music singer who now has a very talented and popular daughter in Miley
Cyrus. That gives this version of "Nashville Star" a lot more star power with the emergence of "Hannah Montana" on the Disney Channel. If you aren't sure what that show is, just ask any teenager. "Hannah Montana", which stars Billy Ray's daughter Miley, is selling millions and millions of dollars in merchandise. Did that entice the producers of "Nashville Star" to bring Cyrus in house? Of course it did. That popularity should and will carry over into "Nashville Star" at least a little bit. At least that's what NBC is hoping for.

Let's also examine country music which continues to broaden it's scope as a genre. The brand continues to get younger and more pop. There have
been artists in the past who have crossed into the pop music category. Artists like Garth Brooks, Shania Twain and even Rascal Flatts have sold
just as many records as their rock and hip hop counterparts. In some cases they sold even more. So look at what "Nashville Star" can bring to the table in terms of guests for the show each week. The ratings on USA Network probably weren't phenomenal. But that's a pretty obscure place to hide a show with some great and perhaps nationwide potential.

The artists who NBC plan to present I am sure will overwhelmingly be young and hip, at least in terms of the country music scene. Could that help the popularity overall for the show? Maybe. Will it compare to "American Idol" in terms of overall popularity and appeal to an audience just as broad? That's very doubtful but I am sure NBC is not expecting it to compete in that fashion. Let's hope not because it will probably never be the ratings winner that Idol has proven to be.

However, "Nashville Star" will hit the mark for several reasons. They won't have to work to win Country Music fans. They are their already. Country music fans will enjoy the prime time platform and there are plenty of those out there. "Nashville Star" will attract some folks that are sitting on the fence and there will be some viewers who tune in just to judge the competition.

I worked for several years as a country music disc jockey years ago. I went in thinking I could never enjoy country music. But you eventually find many songs that you can relate to. Country music songs can be fun because they are easy to understand and sing along with. I am not saying the artists can't hit certain notes because most of them can. Just listen to someone like a Martina McBride or Carrie Underwood.

Artists like those were focused on "American Idol" and that never seemed to hurt the overall ratings of the show. Even artists like Dolly Parton were brought on as guests and they seem to be very well respected by the singers and audience. The bottom line is, if you are a talented singer and/or musician then most people who are open minded will listen. They won't like every artist but just as in all genres of music, there are those will make the audience come back.

"Nashville Star" won't offer the glamor and glitz of Hollywood. It will instead offer the down home country folks type of entertainment that shows like "The Mandrell Sisters" once offered decades ago. It can be a very successful show overall. It will own it's niche. We are, I believe, in the age of narrow casting to an audience. Finding a niche and delivering it. Some television networks will pull the plug on a show that doesn't own it's time slot. But look at WB and FOX have put together shows that are largely followed by audiences because of their longevity. They do develop followings and "Nashville Star" given time will too. If NBC allows "Nashville Star" the opportunity to grow and develop then I believe it could stick around from 3-4 years.
The show will only help Country Music grow as a genre to more mass appeal if that happens.

NBC is probably weary of the fact that the show needs to hit broader audiences in the long term. If that doesn't happen and they don't produce it
to be appealing to everyone then the show could fall flat. People probably didn't think that "American Idol" would be the mainstay it has turned out to be when it originally aired. But with time, it has become more popular than probably anyone dreamed of.
