Language learning social network italki.com announced Steven Huang has joined its Board of Directors. Huang is the fourth member of the Board of Directors, along with CEO Yongyue Jiang, co-founder Kevin Chen, and business angel William Bao Bean. Huang has extensive experience in global finance, banking, and investments; he is currently a vice president at an international private equity firm, Shipston Group Limited.
Huang joined italki through the investment made by Talk da Talk, a Shanghai-based experiential teaching company. Huang joined italki as an early investor and backer, believing in the concept of interactive learning and language exchange.
Prior to his role as Shipston Group, Huang worked at a subsidiary of CITIC Bank (China), executing investment banking and project finance mandates. His professional career includes advising his client in its acquisition of Canilix Communications, a Shanghai-based English training school with eight locations around China, where he also served as the company’s interim general manager; he also developed expansion strategies for clients while a consultant at Accenture. Huang has served on the Board of Advisors of Asia Bank N.A. since 2002. Huang received a BS in mechanical engineering from Cornell University and an MBA in finance and management from the New York University Stern School of Business in 2001.
