New line of dolls at Booth #5441 promise to give children what’s missing in today’s doll – “a doll that looks like me”.
Promising to fill a void in today’s doll market, Younique Gemz™ will unveil its inaugural line of multi-racial heritage dolls at the American International TOY FAIR®, February 12-15, 2006, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.
“We surveyed children and quickly discovered what was missing in today’s doll. The children said they wanted ‘a doll that looks like me,’ one that they could better relate to,” said Debbie Goodland, Younique Gemz™ president and founder. “We were more than happy to oblige by developing this beautiful line of multi-racial dolls that better reflect the growing number of children sharing two or more distinct racial backgrounds.”
Each of the nine dolls have distinct features of two or more ethnic groups complete with varying colored eyes, light to dark skin tones and straight, wavy or curly hair. The dolls are named after precious gems – Amber, Amethyst, Diamond, Emerald, Opal, Ruby, Sapphire, Topaz and Turquoise.
Complete clothing lines for the dolls are currently being designed by a New York City fashion designer and should be ready for release by June 2006.
Also becoming available will be a Younique Gemz™ Scrapbook is designed to compliment the dolls. The purpose of the scrapbook is to give children and parents the opportunity to share their personal heritage, helping to build a strong sense of self within the child. The front of the scrapbook will have a special section for mapping out a family history. The entire scrapbook will be created with all people groups in mind and will display the many unique aspects of various cultures, traditions, music and foods.
Younique Gemz™ dolls celebrate the unique qualities of individuals of multi-racial heritage. Reflective of a growing population of people that share two or more distinct racial backgrounds, these dolls are designed to honor diverse physical characteristics, cultures and traditions.
Purchase information will be available on the internet at youniquegemz.com or by emailing the company at e-mail protected from spam bots. Products will be available for purchase June 2006.
