Americana Community Bank (ACB) recently donated $500 to the Chanhassen Rotary Scholarship Fund. Allen Obernolte, ACB President and CEO, presented the Americana Community Bank scholarship to Kristen Hart, a Chaska High School senior and Chanhassen resident.
The Chanhassen Rotary Club Annual Scholarship Breakfast was held at the Oak Ridge Conference Center in Chaska, on May 21, 2008. Seventeen high school seniors from five area high schools were awarded scholarships ranging from $750 to $2500. Dr. Mitch Pearlstein of the Center of the American Experiment provided the keynote address, highlighting the work and life of former Minnesota Governor Al Quie.
“Rotary International emphasizes ‘service above self’ and the scholarship committee was charged with choosing seniors who epitomize that philosophy,” said Obernolte. “This attention to serving others dovetails nicely with Americana Community Bank’s high level of community service in each of the areas it serves.”
The Chanhassen Rotary Club awarded $24,000 in scholarships, which were made possible through sponsors and the Club’s fundraising efforts. In addition to Americana Community Bank, scholarship sponsors included 10 area companies.
