Kingston, Ontario, Canada, 2008/05/23 - Kingston 1000 Islands Cruises in partnership with AudioConexus, Inc., today announced the launch of the world’s first GPS triggered (satellite technology) audio tours in six languages - KTIC.ca.
Kingston 1000 Islands Cruises today announced the launch of the world’s first GPS triggered (satellite technology) audio tours in six languages on its three tour boats – the Island Queen, the Island Belle, and the Island Star.
Kingston 1000 Islands Cruises delivers two new audio tours in six languages simultaneously, on its tour of ‘Discovery’ and ‘Heart of the Islands’ experience of Kingston and the 1000 Islands, providing tourists with fascinating stories about Ontario's oldest city, once the capital of early Canada.
Recently awarded the prestigious Unesco World Heritage Site designation, the Rideau Canal, Kingston’s fortifications, and Fort Henry converge with the launching of wireless hands-free tours in English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese and Mandarin as tourists use small wireless receivers and headsets to experience and relive history with a characterization of Canada’s first Prime Minister, Sir John A. MacDonald – Canada’s father of Confederation.
Hugh Mackenzie, General Manager of Kingston 1000 Islands Cruises said “We are pleased to announce that Sir John A. has agreed to assist us in our tours of “Discovery” and our “Heart of the Islands” tours as our guest narrator and editorial contributor.”
“Now — clearly — I’ve been dead since 1891 — but I confess that the soul of this piece of paradise haunts me and I haunt it.” said Sir John A. “There is no one who knows these islands and waters and towns as well as I; and little have they changed since I died, paradise being an entity that uniquely recognizes itself when reached, and fights any and all gross alteration.”
Sir John A. regales Kingston’s guests with stories of Iroquois history and British military challenges with the United States, shares stories about the geological wonders of this region — its ancient rock and ideal building stone, its currents and ice flows and wildlife unique to the planet — all interweaved in these waters and islands aplenty.
Utilizing satellite (GPS) technology, Kingston 1000 Islands Cruises is the first company in the world to provide location-relevant audio tours on tour boats, where Kingston and the 1000 Islands are transformed into theatrical backdrops for its storytellers. Using small wireless receivers and headsets –touring guests are provided with more meaningful and memorable visitor experiences.
"We are thrilled to offer the world’s first marine application of portable, wireless, GPS guided audio tours in Kingston and the Thousand Islands for Kingston 1000 Islands Cruises,” said AudioConexus Inc.'s President & CEO, Jonathan Stanley, “the early testimonials of passengers shows that visitors of all types – from history buffs to first-time visitors, to people revisiting the region for sightseeing – will enjoy listening to these GPS guided tours with a characterization of Canada’s first Prime Minister, Sir John A. MacDonald. There’s really something for everyone, whether they’re interested in learning more about this region’s fascinating history or just enjoying a fun cruise of historic Kingston and the 1000 Islands.”
“Please take a long deep breath — this air you consume is clean and filled with the goodness of fresh water and blue skies. You are in Kingston and the Thousand Islands, a piece of heavenly paradise as is seldom found on God’s green Earth. Here compelling history and gorgeous natural beauty are mixed in a way that few places can approximate. Come. We have much of keen interest to discover.”
